This is a classic example of a card that is too clever for its own good. This pencil/drumstick may be a finely crafted example of woodworking, but as a business card, it’s just bizarre.

Promoting drum teacher Christian Delano, the association is obvious. But in breaking the most basic rules of business cards I wonder how effective this one is. In other words, your business card should be a card! People are used to the form factor, they keep rolodexes and binders and tuck them away in wallets. What am I supposed to do with a drumstick anyway?

Don’t try to out-clever your potential audience.
