I am indeed surprised that Paul Rand, of the most famous and prolific graphic designers ever, has such a starkly spartan business card. Surely, this was intentional. Right?

In agreeing with your words, “…of the most famous and prolific graphic designers ever…”, I think it is a perfect business card for Mr. Rand as any business card is more of a vessel for contact information, instead of the typical contact vessel / reminder of whom the person is.

agreed, in the one special occasion, he hands you his card, he could have easily just written his info on a sticky note. You’d still frame it and hang it in your living room between your family photo, and that rockin lenticular photo of Jesus Christ w/ the sacred heart.
