1-800-Printing

Looking for an over-the-top card? Here’s one: 1-800-Printing has created for themselves a 32pt card measuring 3.5″ diameter. Printed on silk laminated stock with the logo embossed and foil stamped. Spot UV on both sides. I don’t even want to know how much these cost per card.

I Just Met You …

In yet another sign that I am old and out of touch, I have finally connected the dots in what is apparently already and Internet meme based on a business card based on a pop song. A few weeks ago, I spotted this card online. The cheeky text read “Hey I just met you, and [...]

Mestre Cervejeiro

I dig these cards for Mestre Cervejeiro, a Brasilian brewery. The very sharp identity is designed by Curitiba-based D-Lab. I can’t tell for certain, but it looks to be kraft paper with sticker, screen printed and die-cut with some edge-staining too. Pretty elaborate, actually. Marian Bantjes

I almost a little surprised I’d never seen the business cards of Marian Bantjes before now. Like the rest of her work, it’s incredibly intricate and unique. Wow. via This Flickr Set »

The Rock

Usually, I reserve my “WTF Wednesday” segment for my other blog, but I stumbled onto this and was just taken aback. Somehow, this seems like a desecration of the natural world rather than a cheeky bit of resourcefulness. I don’t know what that says about a person who deals in biofuels, but you be the [...]

NYC’s Coolest Business Cards

According to Refinery 29, here are 20 of New York’s coolest business cards. I don’t exactly agree. See for yourself. Article Here » via Refinery 29 »

Ackmann & Dickerson

I try to avoid a straight re-post from stuff I find on the web, but this piece is just gorgeous. From our dear friends at Studio on Fire comes the card for Ackmann & Dickerson. [We made] a custom duplex paper — 160lb Mohawk Loop Ivory Smooth pasted to French Construction Nightshift Blue 100C — [...]

Studio on Fire Ninja Cards

I’m a fan on Studio on Fire, and they’ve helped me print some cards in the past. This is one of their self-promotional cards, illustrating, in this case, how they can die-cut into strange shapes, apply type in a circle, and press blind patterns. All very cool. Even though I smirked at this, I’m still [...]

Everything Fits

I was once scolded for producing a name-only card, where the recipient would have to Google my name in order to learn anything about me. Well, that effort seems frivolous compared to the challenge of assembling a puzzle to get a hold of the card. I learned my lesson: people don’t want to exert effort [...]

L’Arte del Gelato

I enjoy the logo and typography for L’Arte del Gelato, a small gelato shop in New York’s Greenwich Village. I cannot, however, endorse their choice of card size, which is nothing like a business card, but instead some almost-square contraption.

Geekbrief.tv

So, a while back I redesigned the logo for Geekbrief.tv, a popular technology video podcast. While the logo has gone into use on the site, the podcast, and elsewhere, the overall visual style I had suggested (or rather, the one that goes with the logo) was ignored. So when Cali handed me this card last [...]

One Free Tan

When walking on the streets of New York, I am handed a variety of promotional and advertising crap. Flyers, coupons, free samples are all common. But the other day I actually accepted the hand-to-hand transfer because I could see from afar that it was, in fact, a business card being slung my way. The card: [...]

Meatcards

Perhaps I’m a fancy-pants east-coast liberal who prefers lattes to processed meat, but I’m afraid I am not amused by Meatcards.com, a service that will laser etch a design into a slab of beef jerky. The trouble here is two-fold. First, and most obviously, an edible card means that people won’t be keeping your card [...]

Have a Seat

Normally, 3D cards are annoying, especially when they don’t reduce to the conventional format, but in this case it makes a little bit of sense. Paul Adams is an industrial designer who apparently specialises in chair design. Designed by Department of Montréal. via OK Great »

In Defense of the Elaborate Card

Die Cut, Foil Stamp, Embossed, and Folded all in the same ‘card’? Gotta love it.
