When we put QR codes on our cards, we thought the same thing, so it takes you to a "bonus" website instead of information. However, I'm finding that people just want the business card info because then they don't have to type it.

What I love with this card is that it's really a little gift:
you got an actual slide, with actual vintage pictures of a long gone anonymous family holiday (something we can all relate to)

Each one is unique too, so you could actually chose one in the box. Very strong emotional process to take time to choose one unique business card!

So, my question for the business card designers out there: how can you embed this unique gift quality in the business card you design? Are people happy and thankful when you give them you card?

Disclosure: I'm the one who took the pictures and told Emiland to send them to this blog!

i think the QR-.vcf download is a great idea. the business card - helps get the correct information in your address book w/o having to type it in.

you still need the card to get to that step, and it works for people not yet using QR codes

Awesome. I don't think you're reading too much into it, it's a great idea - I'm wondering how hard it would be to implement in reality. Will give it some thought.

The impressive part is that it's not just a USB drive...
http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2010/05/pcb_business_card.html

"It can store data, works as an oscilloscope, datalogger and PIC trainer, and packs the CPU power of a Spectrum ZX. Here are the specs:

        * 16 bits microcontroller PIC 24FJ64GB002 @ 32 MHz (16 MIPS)
        * 64 KB of Flash and 8KB of RAM. External SPI or I2C memory optional (up to 32MB)
        * Up to 11 digital I/Os available (Four of them tolerant to 5 volts)
        * Up to 4 analog channels.
        * ICSP port for debugging and programming. The 3 pins of the ICSP connector can be also used as GP I/Os."

Very nice, I think the best business card designs are ones like this where the design relates to the material and method it is produced with.
